Safe-T-Switch®
Models SS1 & SS2 Now Patented
Boca Raton, FL: SMD Research, Inc. announced that US Patent No.:
6,442,955 was issued September 3, 2002 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its popular in-drain
and auxiliary pan outlet shut-off switches for condensate pans and drains. The
use of the safe, reliable, electrically sealed reed/magnet design featured by
both products is now patented. Also now patented is the Model SS1’s flexible
design feature whereby the Tee fitting can be installed vertically or
horizontally by moving the switch/cap assembly from one Tee outlet to another.
The compact, pre-plugged L-shaped design of the Model SS2 is also now patented.
Andrew F. Reish of David, Brody and
Dondershine, LLP, located in Reston, VA, remains on retainer by SMD for the
purpose of protecting the patent and can be reached at (703) 264-2220 for any
dealer/wholesaler inquiries regarding coverage of the patent and/or licensing
of the patent.
SMD has also announced that these
UL® Listed products with the exact same electrically sealed
magnet-reed switch design components first released for sale in 2000 have
recently been re-tested and re-rated by Underwriters Laboratories® at 24 volts A/C, 1.25 Amps GP (6000 cycles, Inductive load). Both models, which have
been shipping with 18 gauge lead wires since December of 2002, are now shipping
with the new rating on the product.
